EMERGING ENERGY
ENGINEERING POWER POSSIBILITES - FROM CONCEPT TO COMMISSIONING

At ASCENT, we are engineering the future of energy. Our mission is to accelerate the energy revolution through bold innovation, rising to the challenge of a net-zero future with cutting-edge solutions that bridge ambition and reality.
We don't just imagine a cleaner, more efficient world—we design, optimize, and deploy the systems that make it possible. From concept to commercialization, we redefine energy possibilities by transforming visionary ideas into scalable, high-performance infrastructure. Together with our partners, we are building the foundation of tomorrow's energy landscape—one breakthrough at a time.
EMERGING ENERGY PROGRAM
Employees spoke and we listened. This isn't just leadership's vision – it's ours. Together, we're building an energy revolution that matters.

We're the engineers who stay late to perfect the design. The innovators who challenge 'good enough.' The teams who turn 'impossible' into 'operational.' Every calculation we run, every system we stress-test, and every solution we deploy is our collective answer to one urgent question: How do we power tomorrow without compromising today?

This program is our commitment: To take smart risks. To build infrastructure that lasts. To mentor the next generation of energy problem-solvers. And to prove – with every project – that the best solutions come when everyone has a voice at the drafting table.
We're not just participating in the energy transition. We're owning it. Because this isn't just work. It's our legacy in the making.

Project Highlight:
Direct Air Capture Facility – Central Alberta

Overview
ASCENT provided full engineering and detailed design services for a first-of-its-kind Direct Air Capture (DAC) facility in Central Alberta, currently the largest operational DAC unit in Canada. Designed to capture up to 2,000 tonnes of COâ‚‚ annually, this project represents a major milestone in advancing scalable carbon removal and storage solutions.

Our Role
ASCENT transformed the client’s conceptual DAC design into a fully engineered, site-ready facility, adapting it to Alberta’s industrial standards, regulatory framework, and CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage) best practices. Our multidisciplinary team delivered the mechanical, electrical, structural, and process design to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Working closely with the construction contractor, ASCENT also supported field execution and commissioning efforts, bridging innovation with proven energy-sector expertise to help bring this technology from prototype to full-scale implementation.

Impact
This project highlights Alberta’s unique ability to deliver complex clean-energy infrastructure at pace, powered by local engineering, fabrication, and construction excellence. For ASCENT, it underscores our commitment to enabling emerging technologies and supporting the transition to a lower-carbon future.
