Our Leads provide the freedom their teams need to complete their work efficiently, while mentoring them at the same time, thus further developing the future leadership of our company.

Morgan Veres, P.Eng  – Senior Project Manager

Morgan has been working in the Western Canadian oil & gas industry since 2007 with the last ten years of his career spent in an EPCM environment. He has held both technical and managerial roles on a wide variety of natural gas and conventional oil facility projects ranging from small batteries and facility optimization work to managing the engineering, design, and procurement for a greenfield 220 MMSCFD sour gas processing facility. Working from a strong technical foundation and having an intimate understanding of the needs and requirements of all stakeholders through the project cycle, he brings a practical and effective approach to his role as a Project Manager at Ascent.

Richard Vandezande, P.Eng – Senior Project Manager

Richard is a results-oriented Project Manager with over 10 years of experience in the oil & gas industry. Starting with a strong foundation built on his experience in the field, he brings a well-rounded skill set that is directly applicable to all stages of a project. Richard takes pride in taking accountability for achieving target objectives on his projects. Complemented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Richard knows how to provide a balance between maintaining positive relationships and getting the work done.

Brett Pope, P.L.(Eng)EIC Manager

Brett has been the Lead Instrumentation Technologist at Ascent Consulting for 5+ years. He is responsible for the instrumentation and controls design on all oil & gas projects. Brett’s extensive field and operations experience provides a strong foundation for providing clients with effective and current technical solutions. He has over 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry, with over 10 years of field experience as an Instrumentation Technologist and Red Seal Journeyman. Working all over North America, Brett has performed multiple start ups and commissioning, and he also has extensive maintenance experience on oil and gas projects. Brett has been involved in a variety of projects including well sites, compressor stations, gas plants, and water/CO2 injection for oil plays. With his wide range of technical skills, communication, and client first mentality, Brett brings a practical approach to all projects he works on.

Matt Gardiner, P.Eng – Process Engineer

Matthew is a practical and results driven Process Engineer who brings a diverse set of skills that reflect his in-depth experience in process engineering design and project management. With over a decade of engineering experience in the Western Canada upstream and midstream conventional oil and gas industries, Matthew has developed a strong technical background mixed with a deeper understanding of project requirements, goals, and client relations. His willingness to consider new ideas and work collaboratively throughout the project provides flexibility and responsiveness to achieve a successful outcome and meet the needs of each specific client. As the Process Engineering Lead, Matthew’s strong background in process design roles and management capabilities make him a valuable project team member and an asset to projects of any size.

 

Dorin McIntosh, P.Eng, PMP – Senior Civil/Structural Engineer

Dorin is a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer with 20+ years of experience in the areas of Heavy Oil recovery, sweet and sour gas plants, cogeneration plants, oil sands extraction, pipelines, and pipeline compressor stations. He has spent over ten years as a lead civil/structural engineer where he has managed teams ranging up to 25 engineers and designers. Dorin uses his skill set and design experience, as well as his ability to work well in a team environment, to provide efficient, fit-for-purpose design solutions.

 

Tyler Ries, C.E.T. – Design/Drafting Manager

Tyler has 20+ years of experience in Piping/Civil Design and Drafting. His career has consisted of designing, leading, and managing teams over various sized projects. He brings experience in well site facilities, pipelines, gas plants, compressor stations, SAGD and power generation (Design & Fabrication). Tyler has built great teams through constant process improvement, knowledge sharing, and solid, two-way communication. He is an active member of ASET and is always building his individual skills through this valuable Alberta Association, in addition to gaining practical experience through his daily leadership activities.
