Morgan Veres, P.Eng  – Senior Project Manager

Morgan has been working in the Western Canadian oil & gas industry since 2007 with the last ten years of his career spent in an EPCM environment. He has held both technical and managerial roles on a wide variety of natural gas and conventional oil facility projects ranging from small batteries and facility optimization work to managing the engineering, design, and procurement for a greenfield 220 MMSCFD sour gas processing facility. Working from a strong technical foundation and having an intimate understanding of the needs and requirements of all stakeholders through the project cycle, he brings a practical and effective approach to his role as a Project Manager at Ascent.

Brett Pope, P.L.(Eng) – Senior Project Manager

Brett is a Project Manager with a background in the Instrumentation and Controls world. Brett’s extensive field and operations experience allows him to provide clients with up to date effective technical solutions ranging from EIC to mechanical design. He has over 18 years experience in the oil and gas industry, with 10+ years of field experience as an Instrumentation Technologist and Red Seal Journeyman. Working all over North America, Brett has performed multiple start up and commissioning projects and has extensive maintenance experience on oil and gas facilities. During his time at Ascent, Brett has been involved in a variety of projects including well sites, compressor stations, gas plants, and water/CO2 injection facilities. With his wide range of technical skills, effective communication ability, and client first mentality, Brett brings a practical approach to all projects he works on.

Matt Gardiner, P.Eng – Senior Process Engineer

Matthew is a practical and results driven Process Engineer who brings a diverse set of skills that reflect his in-depth experience in process engineering design and project management. With over a decade of engineering experience in the Western Canada upstream and midstream conventional oil and gas industries, Matthew has developed a strong technical background mixed with a deeper understanding of project requirements, goals, and client relations. His willingness to consider new ideas and work collaboratively throughout the project provides flexibility and responsiveness to achieve a successful outcome and meet the needs of each specific client. As the Process Engineering Lead, Matthew’s strong background in process design roles and management capabilities make him a valuable project team member and an asset to projects of any size.


Brittney Gosling – Corporate Coordinator/Human Resources Manager

Brittney joined Ascent in 2014 as Ascent’s Office Manager, maintaining Ascent’s building operations and events. Since then, Brittney has taken on multiple roles including Corporate Coordinator and Human Resources Manager where she oversees the execution of Ascent’s HR and Recruitment, Facilities operation, and HSE coordination including maintaining Ascent’s COR status. As Ascent’s Lead Recruiter, Brittney is always looking to on-board new candidates who would be a good fit within the Ascent family. She is passionate about building a great corporate culture and believes that engaging with employees, asking questions, and adapting to feedback is the “Ascent Way” to success.
